The atmosphere is changing now,
For the Spirit of the Lord is here…
Recognising God’s hand in your life
“And the one who searches hearts knows what is the intention of the Spirit, because it intercedes for the holy ones according to God’s will. We know that all things work for good for those who love God, who are called according to his purpose.”
– Romans 8:27-28
I praise and thank you God for the inspiration to start this blog. I see now, that the Lord has been patiently building me up to this point.
- My interest in reading and writing (which has developed a deeper love for God’s Word).
- The time I spent managing and writing for the art website
- An increasing interest to create a website where people can share their experiences of God in their life so that these testimonies can in turn, inspire hope and a renewal of faith in others who are struggling.
- Placing me among people who inspire me every day with their life, their passion for God and His Word.
- Renewing me in the Holy Spirit, who has been an instrumental part of my journey of seeking God through the Word, in the silence, in praise and worship, in people around me and in every day of my life.
I could name so many more. The Lord is truly good and patient. He knows what we need for our journey, and He knows the right stepping stones which will build us up in the way we ought to go.
“The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance… And consider the patience of our Lord as salvation…”
– 2 Peter 3:9, 15
Today I’m taking a leap of faith.
Aligning your plan with God’s plan
This space to share and reflect will be step 8 of my plan for the year. (See more on this page for all the 12 steps and my motto for 2016).
In summary: My goal for 2016 is to speak boldly about God.
Yes, God has His own plan for us (which I am not overriding) but I feel it’s good to also set aims to pull yourself out of your comfort zone and do a little bit more each month for God. In fact, things happen in God’s time and step 9 is already in progress before step 8. It doesn’t matter. The important thing I’ve learnt is to be malleable to God’s plan.
There’s a question that people often ask speakers:
How do you know what is God’s plan for you?
The reply is usually, ‘Discernment. Prayer. A deeper relationship with God.’ These are all true. Here’s what literally just happened to me:
I was typing this post when the internet at home started having connection problems! It was odd because I had been using the internet the whole day and it was working fine. So I prayed and asked God to help me if this blog is what He wants me to do.
Well, I’m happy to say that it is all working now! 🙂 Whenever we are on the right path, there will always be distractions and temptations that try to tear us away. So hold on to God, keep your eyes fixed on Him, and He will guide you through it all towards the path He has marked out for you.
God’s saving help has made me more convinced than ever, that this blog is what I’m supposed to do. That’s how I know I’m on the right path.
Consecration and Dedication
I had to research about the difference between consecration and dedication. Here’s what I learnt:
Dedication means “given up to,” or “devoted to.” It is used to describe those things which were devoted to the service of God.
Dedication is something which we are to do as having apprehended and appreciated what God has done for us. Then dedication is maintained by sanctification. Both these words speak of actions from our side, what we are to do, whereas consecration refers to what God supplies from His side to enable us to carry out our dedication in devotion to His will.
When I was writing and managing the arts website, I prayed this prayer very often:
God, I surrender this art zine to you. Take it and do as you will. The site went from nothing to something, and I found myself at press conferences and media previews alongside big-time reporters. I was supported by friends and even strangers who also love art. I found myself interviewing artists, choreographers, directors, musicians… I know it grew only by God’s grace.
So now I dedicate this website:
Heavenly Father, I entrust this website to you. Take it and do as you will. I am just one person, but I know that with your help, this site can be of service to building your kingdom. Open my heart, soul and mind to receive your promptings and inspiration through the Holy Spirit. Holy Spirit, be with me to guide me and grant me the words to say. Help me to be attentive to God’s presence in my life so that I can testify and share the joy of His presence. May the results of this website be pleasing to you O God. May those who seek you, God, find you alive in these words. Rekindle in them a love and fervour for you. Jesus, my Saviour, guide me on this journey. When I am distracted, remind me of my mission. When I am tempted, protect me and pray for me. When I am tired, refresh me with your love. Blessed Mother Mary, look with favour on my journey. Please intercede for me and continue to guide me to the heart of your Son, Jesus, who is love and mercy itself. You and St Joseph were obedient to the will of the Father and the promptings of the Holy Spirit. Help me to listen and be obedient to God’s will.
