With all I am

Slow down, and reconnect

life

Jesus I believe in you,
Jesus I belong to you…

The idea for today’s reflection occurred while I was sitting at my desk. Usually I’ll have some music in the background while I work but this afternoon, there was nothing playing.

Praise & worship is my favourite form of prayer. So I sang “With all I am” by Hillsong, softly and slowly.

Life goes by really fast but to keep in touch with God, we need to slow down. When I sang slowly, I reflected on the lyrics.

Into your hands, I commit again
With all I am, for you Lord…
Jesus, I believe in you.
Jesus, I belong to you…

I read a quote once that said that public worship (when leading a congregation at church or in a group) is an extension of personal worship.

Have you had a 1-to-1 with God lately?

If you haven’t, try it. You don’t have to be afraid about singing because it’s just you and God. Choose your favourite song (or a song that you know) and sing it slowly and prayerfully as an offering to God. If you prefer not to sing, just listen to a worship song and reflect on the lyrics.

Keeping connected with God will change your day as it has changed mine.

“Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.” – Romans 12:2

//  Update: I just received Fr Heng’s emailed reflection for tomorrow (6 Sept) and it’s on the same topic of spending personal time with God. [See below]

Jesus in Prayer: In today’s Gospel, Jesus withdraws into His private space, to spend some special time of intimate Union with His Father, in the Spirit.  This “sacred time” is needed to renew and strengthen, to deepen His Longing for His Father’s Will.  The choice of the Twelve Apostles is in accordance with His Father’s Will.
